This is geared toward women and I get it; many women get screwed in divorce if they stayed at home to care for kids, etc. At the same time, there are men doing the same thing (I know many divorced women who were breadwinners and whose former hubby stayed home with the kids, and they were not happy to pay spousal support). Rather than assume it will be women who need to squirrel away money, or even men for that matter — there are many same-sex couples raising kids — why not encourage the caregivers to create a plan with their partners that will honor and pay them for their caregiving? That’s why prenups matter — it’s not about divorce per se, but creating an equitable partnership that honors and compensates each partner for what he/she contributes.
