The studies by Dr. Judith Wallerstein on the impact of divorce on children have been criticized for numerous reasons and also took place at a time when there was limited, if any, support for divorcing parents and their children. In an era of conscious uncoupling and divorce selfies, today’s divorcing couples and their children do much better.
Most studies of the past tended to focus on the negative consequences of divorce, but as one sociologist wrote, “If more studies explicitly searched for positive outcomes, then the number of studies documenting beneficial effects of divorce would almost certainly be larger.”
Great and important article.
