The problem is that we don’t expect older people to still be interested in sex and be able to have sex, so staff and doctors don’t bring up STDs. And many older people now often don’t understand how to contract STDs, or what symptoms look like, or are too embarrassed to ask about it. Once we normalize sex for older people, this will no longer be a problem.
