Thanks for reading and responding. I don't think Anderson is vapid. She comes off as incredibly articulate and likable in the recent documentary about her.
The narratives about aging "gracefully," or "well" or "successfully," are harmful and mostly directed at women, and that means aging without looking like we're aging—something that comes at great personal expense, emotionally and physically.
I personally don't agree that it takes courage for any woman, celebrity or not, bombshell or not, to appear "as is" in the public— that's just being a woman who is comfortable with herself as she ages (and aging is a gift). I would love to see all women experience that. If we call it courageous, I believe we continue those harmful narratives. I prefer us to age the best we can on our own terms, and I will always support women in their choices even if I wouldn't make similar ones for myself.
