My mom was not a boomer (I am); she was a ’50s era SAHM. The condo was bought with my father as they were still married (an he eventually lived with her). She never finished high school (she was in concentration camps from age 12–16)) and never went to college. But she sold cosmetics at Bloomingdale’s in NY before landing a job as a cosmetician/saleswoman at Elizabeth Arden salon in Coral Gables. Ageism exists, but perhaps not in female-dominated industries?
