I'm not sure women "should" tell men what to do or not and vice versa. There's a huge difference between "checking out" and questioning the relationship escalator/romantic script most of us have been brought up with.

Marriage works for some people, not for others; cohabiting works for some people, not for others; living apart together works for some people, not for others; being happily single works for some people, not for others.

In other words, we get to decide how we want to live or not, and no one "should" tell us how to do that.
